The painting, long thought to be the work of Scottish artist Sir Henry Raeburn, is now to be re-labelled following claims that it is in fact the work of Henri-Pierre Danloux.
So maintains Dr. Stephen Lloyd of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, while former keeper and Raeburn cognoscente Dr. Duncan Thomson claims he can prove the piece is "absolutely typical Raeburn".
