A revelation from author Daniel Pink's ''A Whole New Mind'' panel at SXSW, during which he spoke of learning to view negative space as a way to stimulate right-brained thinking.

''What's the negative space in this logo?'' Pink asked.

''It's an arrow,'' murkily murmured a large subset of the audience.

''And a spoon!'' shouted the guy from the back of the room.

Wow. It's FedEx, capice? Maybe....

Pink is the author of A Whole New Mind, Moving From The Information to the Conceptual Age, in which he posits that ADHD is the essential survival trait of the future, basically. In an instance of Oprahesque Gladwellian meme-casting, Pink also handed out free copies of his book to all audience members. It looks kick ass, and Pink's a super cool guy. Buy it.

* Bonus points for notice the Ex for Ground logo is green, not orange.
