HONG KONG, (China) -- A Hong Kong man allegedly cheated a newly opened Macau casino out of HK$30 million ($3.85 million) at the baccarat table, newspapers reported Wednesday.

The man, identified only by the surname Wong, reportedly collaborated with a partner to switch cards at the Sands Macau, which was opened in May by Las Vegas gambling mogul Sheldon Adelson.

Macau authorities have arrested Wong and ordered him to stay in the tiny enclave, but he has been released on bail because of "insufficient evidence."

It appears that Wong was able to make off with most, but not all, of the money.

News reports described Wong as a veteran swindler who previously has been barred from other Macau casinos as well as gambling ships that sail out of Singapore. Apple Daily said he wore a disguise to gamble in the Sands.
