Österreichische Post AG is dedicating a special issue stamp scheduled to appear next year to Arnold Schwarzenegger, [English, Deutsch] who was sworn in as Governor of the US state of California on Monday, 17 November. The exact date of issue has not been determined yet, but the motif has.

The Governor himself had a say in selecting the motif. Schwarzenegger really liked the design proposed by Vienna-based artist Hannes Margreiter. And the new Governor of California can claim to be an “expert” in the field: he admits to having been an avid stamp collector as a child.

The face value of the stamp is Euro 1.25, which corresponds to Österreichische Post AG rate for international priority letters. The Austrian State Printing Office will produce 700,000 “Arnold Schwarzenegger” special issue stamps.
